DIY Essential Oil Bubble Bath

Today I'm sharing a fun little DIY for those of you who love to find new ways to enjoy your essential oils...

A natural bubble bath! Aside from the small amount of rose fragrance oil I added to intensify the smell (pure rose essential oil is one of the most expensive essential oils out there!), this bubble bath is much more natural and calming for the skin than store-bought versions. Plus, it's an easy, satisfying project that only takes a few minutes!

I was actually inspired to make rose-scented bubble bath after finishing this gorgeous bottle of French rosé and not wanting to throw away the unique rose-designed glass bottom!

 What you will need:

  • A large jar or a pretty wine bottle. Or whatever inspires you--get creative!
  • 1 1/2 cups of castile soap
  • 1 1/2 cups of unscented body wash
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable glycerin
  • 35-45 drops of the essential oils/fragrance oils of your choice. I used blended rose essential oil (diluted with almond oil) and rose fragrance oil.

You'll notice I didn't include the dried rosebuds pictured... Well friends, this is what we call a learning experience...😅 They looked beautiful when I first made it but as the hours passed, I noticed my bubble bath was becoming rose tea and took on a much darker shade...Wouldn't recommend! 😂 Instead, you could add faux rosebuds for a similar look.

The body wash is optional, you could also just double up on the castille soap, but I find that it really helps to make an extra bubbly bath. If you have hard water (which I do, here in Munich, Germany), the castile soap on its own has a harder time getting sudsy without the body wash. The glycerin adds moisture as well as thickens the consistency.

Be sure to mix all of the ingredients thoroughly and shake before each use! And that's it! Enjoy! <3

XOXO Alison
