How to Care for your WG Products

Hello, my friends! Today I wanted to talk a little bit about how to care for your beloved Wanderess Gear pieces.

So, I've put together this post to compile some of your most frequently asked questions, when it comes to caring for and cleaning your WG items.

The first thing to note about all of my products is that they are sprayed with Scotchguard (or Imprägnol, the German brand equivalent) fabric and leather protector, which helps protect your product against stains and liquids.

Q: Can my product get wet?
A: My products can withstand some wetness, as they are sprayed with a dirt and water protectant, however I recommend spraying again, as needed, just like you would with shoes. However, items made with oilcloth, like the oilcloth zipper pouches and toiletry bags resist water and can easily be dried off and cleaned by simply wiping with a cloth.

Q: Can I put my product through the wash?

A: As for products like the hair accessories, muslin grocery bags, dog bandana and yoga eye pillows, these can be put through the wash. You may wash all of these items in a net laundry bag on a cold, gentle cycle. When washing the yoga eye pillow, remove the inner pillow from the eye pillow and place only the outer pillowcase in the washing machine.

Q: How do I clean the rest of my products if they get dirty or have a stain?

A: As for the majority of my products (excluding the items listed in the previous question), I recommend spot cleaning because of the leather label.

🧼Spot Cleaning Instructions🧽

Spot cleaning: Dip a soft cloth into a mild liquid soap mixed with warm water, squeeze out excess liquid, and blot away grime. Rinse the cloth under running water to remove suds, then wring well; use it to wipe the soap off your bag. Finally, with a clean, absorbent cloth (like a dishtowel), buff leather or blot fabric dry.

Hopefully that covers everything for you! If you have any questions I have not covered, please feel free to drop me a message at I hope to help you keep your WG items looking fresh so you can enjoy them for many years to come! :)

XOXO Alison
